It's here

Springmingle is tomorrow. I'm so ready - not! The nerves have attacked and they have me pinging off all the walls. The editors are ones I've subbed to before and I'd so love it if they wanted to look over my manuscripts. Which one shall I sent to Atheneum and which to Walker Books? The questions plague me constantly. If all goes as it did three years ago, Peachtree will stop by, too. Since they're in Atlanta, it's something most of us expect.

So, as I run through my pitches one last time - this hour - I wonder if I have everything perfect enough to catch an editor's interest. Then I think about all the friends I made last time. And about the new ones I hope to make this time. And also about which project I'll take for the informal critique groups Saturday afternoon.

Stay tuned. I shall post all about my fun at the conference.

Springmingle 09

It's almost time for Springmingle 09. I missed last year's conference but am looking forward to attending at the end of the month. To that end, I'm buffing up three young adult novels. The editors holding the workshops will concentrate on voice and muse. They're also looking for good YA novels.
Which shall I bring? The decision took a lot of time. Only two editors to pitch to and I have three that are good. Strike that. They're great. IMHO. So, I'm going through them with a fine tooth comb and a very red pen. The characters are tighter and leaner. The action pitched until the reader feels every emotion. Lisa, Bec, and Julie are so ready to make themselves into something each editor will feel is the next great young adult book.
I hope.
Like my characters, I suffer from nerves. Freak attacks. And mostly the wonder. When will I sell my first book.
